Does New Mexico recognize German Law?

NM as a state cannot "recognize" any foreign nation. Only the US as a nation can do that. What German law are we referencing? If there is a prohibition in Germany against something that is legal here, German law does not apply, and vice-versa. A marriage in Germany is recognized here.
