I have a laptop with no hard drive, I tried 2 different hard drives in it and neither will fit right. 10 point?

You are right only you didn't mention a hard drive caddy or connector. The last compaq I had used a hard drive caddy (interna hdd enclosure) to connect the hdd and an hp pavillion I have sitting around uses a connector for the pins to slide it into place. Hope this points you in the right direction.
