Why aren't my speakers working?

So I put in my mic to talk on Skype and after I took my mic out my speakers wouldn't work on youtube. I tested my speakers on skype, they're still on and working, but for some reason youtube doesn't seem to be recognizing them. Any ideas as to what is going on, or how to fix it?
