How many absences allowed in Califronia schools?

Well I'm a California highschool student who needs to leave for 2-3 weeks becuz of a family emergency. Im prepared to do all the makeup work when I comeback in fact I'm willing to take all the weeks stuff and do it there. Do you think the school system will allow it even if I have a legitimate excuse and exactly how many days can you be absent??
